First Round Single Elimination Results--(July 24, 1998)

All of the "expected" favorites won today, including the Madison Broncos, Abbey AC, Virginia Select, DC Assault, the New Orleans Jazz, EBO, Inland, and Hunting Park. At least they were the "expected" favorites if you've been watching the games and seeing the teams. A couple of very nice teams didn't happen to make it to the quarterfinal round, and they will now play in the consolation bracket. Teams like Friends of Hoop I, CAYA Seattle, Arizona Heat, FOH II, FOH III, FOH IV, Pump & Run I, Brewster Heights, Minnesota Select Gold, Select White, Salpointe, IEBP All Stars and IEBP Ballers & Players, KC ACT, the Newark Rams, Texas Blue Chip, Houston AAU, and CCSE.

Once again, the official scoring and bracket folks (Phil Bryant and Jan Bryant, and their staff) didn't always keep track of the winning score, because in a single elimination tournament it's pretty meaningless. So we've just underlined the winning team for you. If we have a score or two (actually we forgot to write down all but one or two) we'll post them.

Remember, that in the Championship bracket, the Quarterfinal Games begin at 9:00 a.m., and continue through 1:40 p.m. Semifinals go from 1:40 until 4 p.m. the Third Place game is at 5:10 p.m., and the Championship Game is scheduled for 6:20 p.m. at Cal State Dominguez Hills.
