Double Pump Best Of Summer
Game Schedule For Tuesday--(July 20, 1998)
The Best of Summer, 1998 edition gets going tomorrow morning down at Cal State Dominguez Hills. We've already posted up the Pools, so if you want to get an overall picture of who is playing, look there. The games are played on two side courts at either end of the gym, and on the main court. As you walk into the gym, the court immediately in front of you, (actually the North court) is Court 1. The Main Court is court 2, and the court at the south end of the gym is court 3. We think. Well, we're at least pretty certain that the central court will be court 2. Er, maybe. Hey, just show up, and you be able to spot which is which pretty easily.

Games to see:
You gotta see the QBL v. Wing Ling Hong Kong team. That's basically the Artesia team (Jason Kapono, Andre Hazel, Aaron Hamilton, Apolinar Fernandez, Jack Martinez, et. al) vs. a bunch of guys brought over from Hong Kong by Mark Borgeson, who most recently coached the ARC 14's with rising freshmen David Gale (5'-10" Fr. PG) from Buckley, Craig Weinstein (5'-10" Fr. SG/PG) from Harvard-Westlake, Charlie Kranzdorf (6'-0" Fr. G/F), Brian Trump (5'-11" Fr. G/F), Harrison Schaen (6'-6" Fr. F/C) formerly at Sierra Canyon, and probably bound for Mater Dei after he repeats the 8th grade next year after moving to Orange County from the San Fernando Valley, and Greg Jones (6'-7" Fr. PF/C) from Montclair Prep, who is Keith Closs' brother, but weighs about 250 lbs, and he just turned 15.
Mark left for China to coach the Chinese team during the month of June and early July, and was looking for a tournament to play them in. They'll be here at the Best of Summer and also in Vegas next week for the Grand Finale, and they should be interesting to watch.
EBO v. Spartans: We're guessing that this will be the obvious (Carlos Boozer, DeShawn Stevenson, Shammel Stallworth, Napolean Rhodes, Brett Nelson, et. al) v. the Sylmar High team (George Wrighster, Jeremiah Turner, et. al), and possibly Gilbert Arenas, when he's not playing for Pump & Run I.
Madison Broncos v. Pump & Run II-- this is a final four Big Time team (Broncos) v. what we think is the Hilltoppers (unless they've changed the numbering again, in which case it will actually be P&R II).
Should be a bunch of great games with some great action, and the best part is that it's really easy to see, because it's all in one location, and you don't have to drive all over the place trying to catch the games. Er, um, not that there's anything wrong with that.
See you there.
