Orange Coast College Summer Camps--(June 5, 1998)
Orange Coast College is hosting basketball camps for both boys and girls.
On the boys' side, Tim O'Brien, the men's basketball coach at Orange Coast College, will host the "Pirates of the Future" basketball camp for boys ages 8-16 at the Orange Coast gymnasium. O'Brien will teach individual and team basketball skills. The camp will also include full court games, with referees, highlight videos, and individual awards. The camp runs from 9 a.m. to noon each day. The sessions are June 29 to July 2, July 6-10, July 13-17 and July 20-24. The cost per session is $89. On the girls' side, the OCC women's basketball coach Mike Thornton will host the 11th annual Lady Pirate Basketball Camp for girls ages 8-13. The camp will also feature instruction by members of the OCC women's basketball team. The first camp, which runs July 13 to July 17, is for girls 8-10 and will meet from 1 to 4 p.m. each day. The second camp, for girls 11-13, will be July 20 to July 24 and will also start at 1 p.m.. This will be a pretty basic skills camp, but will also feature team play, defensive technique and rebounding. The camp will feature team games. The camp fee is $99. So, just to recap, the camps are all held on the same dates. The guys get the mornings, and are then free to go surfing, sailing or whatever guys do in the afternoon in Costa Mesa, including watch the girls playing hoops in the afternoon. And the girls get the afternoons, so they get to sleep in.
