Report
Former
Irvine Valley Coach
To Woodbridge?--(June 11, 1998)
The Orange County Register is reporting that Eric Bangs, who resigned last week as Irvine Valley College's women's basketball coach, interviewed for the dual positions of basketball coach and assistant athletic director at Woodbridge High. Bangs currently teaches at Woodbridge and was the school's girls basketball coach before moving to Irvine Valley College for the 1995-1996 season. He went 296-69 at Woodbridge, won 10 league titles and coached them to state final appearances in 1994 and 1995. The register also reports that former Irvine Valley coach Lisa McNamee will run the IVC program on an interim basis. Irvine Valley is expected to name a coach by the end of July. Bangs, Irvine Valley's head coach one season and an assistant for two, said he resigned for two main reasons. He wanted to spend more time with his family, and the full-time position he desired at Irvine Valley was going to open later than he expected. Last year, Irvine Valley (25-8) finished second in the Orange Empire Conference and advanced to the third round of the state playoffs, losing at Ventura. The 25 victories were a school record.
