Kenny Brunner: No Comment.--(June 26, 1998)

We've had lots of inquiries over the last weeks from people via e-mail and a couple on the SoCalHoops message board wanting to know what the status is of the Kenny Brunner case. For those who don't recall it, the Los Angeles Times reported that Brunner has been charged with attempted murder of Los Angeles City College Coach Mike Miller. According to police reports obtained by the Times, Brunner allegedly pulled a gun on Miller, placed it to his chest, and pulled the trigger; the gun, however did not go off. Brunner allegedly then took approximately $1500 from Miller in cash. Brunner was arrested later that night or the next day, and has been in jail since being arrested. He was charged later the next week with attempted murder, according to reports published in the LA Times.

Coincidentally, yesterday afternoon we were over at the Providence summer league games, and we ran into Mike Miller (not WestCoastHoops' Mike, but LACC head coach Mike), who was visiting some of his coaching friends and watching the games.

Miller looked relaxed and seemed to be enjoying the games. While we talked about his new players and how LACC might do, there was one topic that Miller absolutely would not talk about: Kenny Brunner.

He steadfastly refused to say anything about the matter. In fact when we directly asked him about it, he said "I can't and won't comment about it. It's the subject of a criminal investigation, and I just won't talk about it."

No comment. Maybe that's the best thing anyone can say about Kenny Brunner until the case is adjudicated.
