Sentenced in Cal State
Fullerton Bribery Attempt--(June 26, 1998)
The Los Angeles Times reported today that a Cal State Fullerton student who pleaded guilty to trying to bribe a basketball player was sentenced this week to nine months in jail and ordered to get treatment for gambling addiction. According to the story, Municipal Judge W. Michael Hayes also placed Jack Oh, 21, of La Verne on five years' probation. Oh was arrested Feb. 23 after Fullerton police recorded a conversation in which he offered a Titan basketball player $1,000 if the team lost by more 10 points in a Feb. 19 game. (The Titans lost 71-57 against Pacific.) According to the article, Police said Oh also offered $100 for each missed free throw and as much as $75,000 for continued cooperation.
