Oui, Oui: SD State Signs Two More--(May 19, 1998)

In addition to the excellent recruiting class picked up by San Diego State last fall during the early signing period (David Abramowitz, Joe Mann, Jeffrey Berokoff, Myron Epps, Vincent Okotie, and Jackson Jones), the Aztecs have picked up two more during the spring signing.

We spoke with assistant coach James Holland who confirmed that SDSU has received LOI's from Julian Sormonte (6'-5" Sr SF) from Milford Academy in Connecticut, and Donte Wilson (6'-2" Sr. PG) from South Plains JC in Texas. Sormonte is both a teammate and countryman of UCLA-signee Jerome Moiso, and is reportedly more of a perimeter player and three-point shooter than he is an in-the-paint type of guy. Wilson, who was described by some observers as a shooting or off-guard, is apparently more of a point-type, not flashy but a steady, solid passer who has the ability to run a team.

Expect Wilson and Sormonte to make an immediate impact, and further expect to see Wilson and Abramowitz combining in the backcourt, but with Wilson doing a bit of time at the 2 spot.
