Report: Don't Believe Everything
You Read From Indiana--(May 5,1998)
At least that's what Shantay Legans (5'-10" Jr. PG) from Dos Pueblos has to say about the reports we posted from Richards' Boilermaker site on the Speice Run N' Slam Classic. So Shantay sent us some e-mail and posted his own reply and report on the Rockfish adventure in Indiana. This is also posted over on the message board, but we wanted to be sure everyone got a "balanced" report. Here's Shantay's report about the games:
And glad to be home. The time went by in a flash, so I don't remeber too much, except I know what they put in their newspapers and internet articles was a bunch a baloney. The game against Jason Gardner, I d'd him up stole the ball and generally ruined his day. The other guy they talked about Boyd or whoever, I don't even remember, maybe Devin played against him. As the the Speice team and Hutchinson or Harkington, PULEEEASE, no contest that Boilermaker dude can't see past Indiana. I think the reporting back there isn't too full of facts, it's just want they want to see.Yes, our team could have done better, and I played my best game in the first one but played Ok the rest of them but could have been more focused. Our best players in this tournament I think were Nick Vander Laan, Dalron Johnson, And Brian Wethers. As a team we didn't do all that good, winning 2 and losing 2, and we need to be able to finish those games. The 2 we lost we had the lead and gave it away. Like up 8 points with 3 minutes left and lose? Dammit. NOT good. Individually, we all stood out at different times, now if we can all stand out at the SAME time we will be unbeatable in North Carolina where we are heading in a couple weeks. I'm gonna have to get scarier tattoos for the next tourney. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
