Rockfish & Belmont Shore At
Bob Gibbons North Carolina Tourney--(May 22, 1998)

We've known this tournament has been coming for weeks. Hey, anyone who's read the postings either on our site or Mike Miller's site, knows that Shantay Legans has been spreading the word about Rockfish. We also know that the Rockfish No. 1 traveling team this year includes Dalron Johnson (6'-7" Jr. C/F) from Verbum Dei, Brian Wethers (6'-4" Jr. G) from Murrieta Valley, Raphael Berumen (6'-8" Jr. C) from Simi Valley, Shantay Legans (5'-10" Jr. PG), Russell Lakey (5'-10" So. PG) from Harvard-Westlake, Nick Vander Laan (6'-10" Jr. C/F) from Kent School in Connecticut, and Devin Montgomery (6'-3" Jr. G) from San Fernando, Shea Anderson (6'-6" Jr. F) and Keyon Cooley (6'-7" Jr. F) both from Long Beach Poly, Eric Seiss (6'-3" Jr. G) from Redlands High, and Jacoby Atako (5’11 So. G) from Santa Monica.

And the Memorial Day tournament to be at from a national point of view, at least one of the most well-known tourneys is the Reebok/Bob Gibbons Tournament, in North Carolina at UNC. The games will be held starting tomorrow, and as we write this, the Rockfish boys are probably already in the air on their way to UNC.

In addition to Rockfish, Dinos Trigonis' Belmont Shore Basketball Club will also be competing. Belmont will feature Casey Jacobsen (6'-6" Jr. SG) from Glendora, Tito Maddox (6'-3" Jr. PG) from Compton, Joe Shipp (6'-5" Jr. F) from LA Fairfax, and and Julius Barnes (6'-1" Jr. SG) from Rowland Heights.
