"Days Of Our Lives" Charity Hoops Event--(May 29, 1998)
Who says we don't do charity work at SoCalHoops?
Here's an event that you might not want to miss, especially if you're a fan of "charity" events featuring soap opera stars. But hey, it's for a good cause. The Times reports that James Reynolds who stars as Police Commander Abe Carver on the NBC soap opera "Days of Our Lives," will host a celebrity tournament to benefit South Pasadena High School's basketball program this weekend. The game is at 8 p.m. Saturday at Polytechnic School, 1030 E. California Blvd., Pasadena. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and $5 for children ages 12 and under. (626) 799-3285. So if you're not doing anything, go to the game. And if you want to just donate money and miss the event, we're sure that would be all right too.
Reynolds, who began the "Days of Our Lives" annual benefit game seven years ago, said the charity event has raised $30,000 for several school basketball teams over the years. "Sports activities are important in every educational setting," he said. "A public school could be wonderful academically, but in many cases, that school will have only so much money to run summer and winter athletic programs. It's a big problem when it comes down to kids paying money out of their own pockets to be able to play."
Reynolds will be joined by other "Days of Our Lives" cast members Bryan Datillo (Lucas), Kristian Alfonso (Hope), Arianne Zucker (Nicole), Austin Peck (Austin), Roark Critchlow (Mike), Renee Jones (Lexi), Frank Parker (Shawn), Josh Taylor (Roman), Steve Wilder (Jack), Victor Alfieri (Franco), Jensen Ackles (Eric), Patsy Pease (Kimberly), and Marie Alise Recasner (Lynn).
Honestly, we have no idea who these people are. Really. We swear it.
