AAU Coach Named
Head Coach At Alemany--(May 18, 1998)
We were out of town for a good part of last week, and thus we missed this one on Thursday: Darryl McDonald, an assistant coach at San Fernando High the last seven years, and longtime coach of the AAU Cavs traveling team, has been hired as the boys' coach at Alemany High. He replaces Jin Park, who resigned after last season and compiling a disastarous record of 6-18 and not a single win in Mission League play, 0-12. McDonald is also youth sports director at the North Valley YMCA in Mission Hills, and coaches the Cavs in the Valley Conference, a confederation of mostly YMCA teams, but which also includes some better traveling teams such as the Northridge Knights. McDonald, 34, will be a walk-on coach for Alemany. He plans to have Kennedy assistant Juan Segura, Sylmar assistant Charles White and Ryan Keewhu, a youth sports coaching associate, as assistants. "I've been in the community a while, so I know a lot of the people over there. We're going to try to do things right."
