Some JUCO Signings: Comings and Goings--(April 30,1998)

Goings:

It's been reported that Allen Gomez (6'-5" So. G) from East LA College has signed a National Letter of Intent at Long Beach State. However, the school would not confirm or deny that Gomez had signed a letter yet. Apparently the compliance officer at Long Beach is under the impression that they can "only make one announcement after they've signed all" of their recruits, so they will not issue announcements as each player signs. Long Beach is apparently under the impression that "only the player can confirm or deny that they've signed".

Hello, Wayne Morgan: Perhaps that's why your recruiting seems to be such a big, deep, dark secret. It might help if you told your NCAA Compliance Officer that you can announce signings, one at a time, as you receive the signed Letters of Intent.

Or maybe the rest of the country is doing it wrong.

Comings:

Jay Richardson (6'-7" Sr. F) from Lompoc's Cabrillo High will reportedly play for Los Angeles Valley College in Van Nuys next year.

Ronnell Mingo (6'-8" Sr. F) from LA Fremont, has not yet formally committed, but will probably play for LA City College next season.
