At The Great Western Forum
Sunday April 19, 1998
The Snapple Eddie Jones All-Star Classic featuring America's and Southern California's premier high school seniors will be held on Sunday, April 19, 1998 at the Great Western Forum in Inglewood, California. Los Angeles Laker and NBA All-Star Eddie Jones will again serve as the honorary chairman for this year's event.
This 4th annual all-star basketball doubleheader, titled sponsored by Snapple and sponsored in part by Brand Jordan, Nike Spalding, Slam Magazine, dada Supreme, Gatorade, Fullcourt Press and West Coast Hoops promises to be the top all-star affair on the West Coast and one of the elite all-star events in the country. The "All-Southern California Game" will tip-off at 5:30 pm and will be followed by the "All-American Game" at 7:30 pm (tip-off time). Tickets are $9 for adults and $7 for any student ID. Seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
Past participants in this event include Stephen Jackson (Phoenix Suns draft pick), Alvin Jones (Georgia Tech), Kaspers Kambala (UNLV), Chris Owens (Tulane), Earl Watson (UCLA), Kevin Augustine (USC), Dino Tanner (Oregon State), Mark Seaton (Stanford), Charles Williams (Cincinnati), Michael Gill (Cal), Willie Farley (Fresno State), Gary Williams (USC), Art Lee (Stanford), Mike Batiste (Arizona State), Donte Quinine (Oregon), Jonathan Nelson (Oregon), Ortege Jenkins (Arizona), Larry Abney (Fresno State), Duane Davis (Kansas State), Brian Jones (Santa Clara), Mark Neal (South Alabama), Anthony Carter (Hawaii), Jason Patton (Arizona State), Paul Culbertson (Nevada), Kejuan Woods (Boise State), Damon Ollie (Montana State), Peor Vasiljevic (Kansas State), Kelvin Gibbs (Pepperdine), Robin Kennedy (Nevada), Ike Harmon (Cal State Fullerton), Anthony Anderson (SMU) and Micha Kroeger (Hawaii).
In response to unforseen expeditures, the organizers of the Snapple Eddie Jones Classic have put together an "Event Patrons" package for people who are willing to pay more in support of the event. Initially, the airlines had allowed the use of vouchers to cut down the cost of flying the high school players in. This decision was recently overturned by one of the airline executives, according to Phil Gatton, event organizer.
In order to compensate for this upfront increase in cost, an "Event Patrons" package had been created. Again, fans can pay $9 to attend the event or $7 with student ID. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. The "Event Patrons" package deems you an actual sponsor of the event. Patrons get reserved seating in the front rows. It also includes an invitation to the private media/sponsor luncheon. The luncheon for sponsors will be held in Hancock Park on Saturday April 18 at 3 pm. In attendance will be the media, the players and Los Angeles Laker Eddie Jones.
The luncheon will provide every patron the opportunity to spend a couple of hours with the players of their choice. Patrons are allowed to bring their cameras for photos and items to be autographed. The package isn't cheap to your average student. The minimum donation for an "Event Patron" package is $100, and the number of patrons will be very, very limited. Remember that all money goes to defraying costs and to charity. Sponsor seating at the game will be determined by the amount of the donation and particularly on a first-come, first-served reservation and payment basis.
If you'd like to be an "Event Patron", or for any and all quesitons, you can contact Phil Gatton.
