Calvin Byrd Takes Cameron
Dollar's Spot At UCI--(April 24,1998)

Calvin Byrd has been named an assistant basketball coach at UC Irvine. Byrd, who played at Villanova from 1989-93, has been an assistant at Alameda St. Joseph-Notre Dame High, where Gordie Johnson is the head coach, having replaced Frank LaPorte. St. Joe's was the runner-up this year in the Division I State Championship game to Westchester.

Byrd replaces Cameron Dollar, who quit to coach Southern California College. Hmmm. Are there any unsigned seniors from St. Joe's who might wind up at UCI?
