CIF Southern Section CIF Players of the Year--(March 27, 1998)
On Wednesday of this week, the Southern Section of the CIF announced it's Players of the Year for both boys and girls, in each of the 10 divisions in Southern Section.
In Division I-AA, Casey Jacobsen of Glendora was selected as the boys' Player of the Year. Jacobsen, a junior guard, averaged more than 44 points per game in the playoffs, and led Glendora to the Division I-AA Southern Section title.
The other boys Division winners were:
Division II--Tayshaun Prince (Compton Dominguez)
Prince was the only SoCal player in Wednesday's McDonald's All-American High School Basketball Game, which was played Wednesday night in Norfolk, Va., and he scored 10 points (5-10 shooting from the field), as the "West" team lost to the East, 128-112. Prince, will attend Kentucky next year, averaged 22 points, 10 rebounds and six assists,led Dominguez to the Southern Section II-A championship game, but was injured in that game against Redondo, and the Dons were then eliminated in the regional semifinals by Compton. Prince was also named a second-team All-American by Parade Magazine.
Division III--Tony Dow (Ocean View)
Dow was the on-the-floor leader for the Division III-AA champions, averaging 10 points and 4.9 assists. "He was one of the most complete point guards in Southern California," Seahawk Coach Jim Harris told the Times. "He is dedicated to basketball; the ultimate gym rat."
Division IV--Ruben Douglas (Bellarmine-Jefferson)
Douglas averaged a state high 34.6 points per game in leading the Guards (18-13) to the Southern Section Division IV-A semifinals, and in two games this season he scored more than 50 points, and in three others he had more than 40. His season total of 1,046 points ranks fifth in the all time in Southern Section history, and he is the ninth leading scorer in California state history. Douglas, 6'-4" will attend Arizona next year.
Division V--Conrad Adamczak (Pacific Hills).
Conrad Adamczak (6'-5" Sr. F) led his team to the State Division V Championship, the first time Pacific Hills has won the title. Adamczak scored 18 points and 11 rebounds in the Regional State final against San Diego Horizon. Adamczak will reportedly attend Iona College next year.
In the girls divisions, Michelle Greco of Crescenta Valley, who will attend UCLA next year, was named the Division I-AA player of the year.

Division II--Lindsey Davidson and Chelsea Trotter (Brea Olinda)
Division III--Anna Lembke (Ocean View)
Division IV--Shannon Howell (St. Bernard)
Division V--Diane Webber (Chadwick).
