Playoffs: Southern Region
Finals Matchups, Schedules & Predictions--(March 13, 1998)
Frankly, we've already put so much information online here at SoCalHoops about the teams playing in the Boys' Regional Finals, that it hardly makes any sense for us to do in depth previews. If you want to read about Westchester, fine, there are a ton of articles we've done in the last few weeks; same thing for Artesia, and all of the other teams in the other divisions. The only expection might be Division IV, Verbum Dei and The Bishop's, about whom we probably know the least. So if you want to see a "preview", read the stuff we've already put up to get a feel for who you'll see and what they're likely to do.
And unlike our usual practice, this time we're going to pick 'em: In Division I, we're going with Westchester over Artesia; In Division II, Compton will upset Santa Margarita avenging last week's Southern Section Championship loss and thus propel the Tarbabes to the State Final; In Division III, USDHS will beat Washington Union who will play without Chris Jeffries who injured his foot last night, and Uni will finally go to the State Championship; in Division IV, we still don't have a clue, and (sorry all you PH fans) Horizon will repeat and return yet again to the state finals. We're not going to predict scores, just results.
Here are the matchups arranged by Division:
Division I: Westchester v. Artesia
at UCLA Pauley Pavilion 8:00 p.m.
Division II: Compton v. Santa Margarita at UCLA Pauley Pavilion
3:00 p.m.
Division III: Washington Union v. USDHS at Long Beach Pyramid

Division IV: Verbum Dei v. The Bishop's School at Long Beach
Pyramid 4:00 p.m.
Division V: Horizon v. Pacific Hills at Pauley Pavilion 11:00

And in case you plan to spend your day at either Pauley or the Pyramid, or plan to travel between them, here's what you'll find going on at each location throughout the day. The matchups here include Boys' & Girls' games:
