Esperanza's Lloyd Wells
Signs With LMU--(Dec. 10, 1999)

We got the official press release from Loyola Marymount University late last night, were a bit surprised over the timing, but then remembered that schools often take a long time to announce signings, and can in fact have up to 21 days to turn in a signed letter of intent to the conference office after they receive it.   But this one is pretty late, considering the signing period has been over for close to three and a half weeks now.  But better late than never. Here's the release:

LMU Head Coach Charles Bradley Announces Lone Signee In Early Period

Los Angeles, Calif., Thursday, December 9, 1999 -- Loyola Marymount Head Men’s Basketball Coach Charles Bradley announced today that Lloyd Walls has signed a national letter of intent to play with the Lions next season. Walls was the only recruit Bradley signed in the early signing period.

“I’m very excited about Lloyd’s decision to attend LMU,” said LMU Head Coach Charles Bradley. “As we continue to build a strong frontline, Lloyd will really compliment the corps of kids we have on the floor right now. I think Lloyd is going to have a fine senior year and be ready to come in next fall and help us.”

Walls is a 6-9 post player currently in his senior campaign at Esperanza High School in Anaheim, Calif. Walls checks in at 235 pounds and is considered a very quick and agile player for his size. With the ability to run the court extremely well, Walls averaged an impressive 12.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and 4.0 blocked shots per game last season as a junior at EHS.
