USC: Sandy Fletcher To Join
Trojan BBall Team--(Dec. 14, 1999)
We don't know how we missed this one, but we did. The L.A. Times reported on Sunday that Sandy Fletcher (6'-3" Fr. SG) will join the men's basketball team this week. The paper reported that since football season is now finished, he will join the basketball team and resume his hardwood career either Monday or Tuesday (i.e., yesterday or today). For those who don't recall, Fletcher played at Inglewood last year and was selected All-CIF last year, All-Bay League first team, and was the Co-MVP of the Bay League. Inglewood made it to the CIF Southern Section finals, losing to Mayfair in Division II-A in a stunning loss (you had to see it to believe it). According to the USC football media guide, Fletcher averaged 19 points, and 7 rebounds, and also grabbed 3 steals per game in his senior season. He was also selected to the Press-Telegram's Best in the West, as an honorable mention.
