Another Holiday Prep Classic, another Newbury Park win. This team just always seems to come out of nowhere (well actually they come out of Newbury Park. . . but enough bad puns) and always plays tough, hard basketball. This year, the Panthers look like they've got another big-time scorer, but his name isn't Bobik this time. Instead it was Shane Hosac who had 20 points, and he led all scorers and grabbed the MVP award for the game. Will Svitek also was instrumental in the win, and the Panthers are probably glad that football season is over, because he grabbed 13 rebounds (10 defensive) and shot 8-12 from the line.

Rancho onl had one player in double figures, Roderick Lukes, who managed 14 points and who also had 15 rebounds in the game (13 defensive). For the rest of the scoring, here's the box, since there really wasn't anyone else close to double figures except Scott Jones for Rancho with 8 points:

Neither team shot particularly well overall from the field (Newbury Park shot 38% on 19-49 shooting, while Ransho went 14-46 or 30.4%), but Newbury Park managed to capitalize on it's defensive pressure, getting 13 points off of turnovers to just 3 for Rancho.

Newbury Park will play again on Monday at 11:45 a.m. against Bakersfield, and this should be a more competitive game for both of these teams. The game will be at the Green Valley Main Gym, so if you're in town, you'll want to catch this one.
