Y2K adidas Double Pump
Hoop Challenge--(Dec. 13, 1999)

We finally got the updated and revised schedules and team placements for the 2000 adidas Double Pump Hoop Challenge, which will take place Saturday, January 15, 2000 at Long Beach City College (not at CSUDH like most Double Pump events).  Here's the lineup of games:

10:30 a.m.

Simi Valley HS v. Gardena Serra HS

12:00 p.m

Fairfax HS v. Westchester HS

1:30 p.m.

Artesia HS v. Bellflower HS

3:00 p.m.

Jurupa Valley HS v. Centennial (Corona) HS

4:30 p.m.

Mater Dei HS v. Los Alamitos HS

6:00 p.m.

Bishop Montgomery HS v. Washington Union HS (Fresno)

7:30 p.m.

Long Beach Poly HS v. Long Beach Jordan HS

9:00 p.m.

Inglewood HS v. Redondo Union

Artesia is currently ranked by many as the No. 1 team in America, but others would argue it's Mater Dei.  Both are in the top 5 in the USA Today poll as of today.   The Bishop Montgomery v. Washington Union game is one that could be a pre-meeting of two teams who are capable of winning the State Division III title this year.  Big games, big players, and  you'll see some of the top players on the West Coast, including several top nationally rated players, among them DeShawn Stevenson, Travon Bryant, Wesley Stokes, Andrew Zahn, Branduinn Fullove (UCSB), Brett Michel, Dustin Villapigue, Shaun Michel, Aerick Sanders, Doyle Cole, D.J. Wyatt, Andre Hazel, Jack Martinez, Amaury Fernandez, Craig Smith, Evan Burns, Jason Morrissette, Scottie Stern, Jon Steffanson, Jamal Sampson, Cedric Bozeman (committed to UCLA), Steve Scoggin, Harrison Schaen, Errick Craven, Derrick Craven, Kenny D'Oyen, Brian Pruitt, DeVaughn Peace, Jeff Grgas, Deshawn Anderson,  A.J. Diggs, Adrian Martin, Joe Travis, Dylan Mathis, Paul Meynen, Ryan Mollins, Dijon Thompson, Walter White, Adam Zahn,  Josh Barnes, David Sybesma, Jamaal Williams, and many, many others.

Long Beach City College is located at 4901 E. Carson Street in Long Beach.  Admission is open seating,  adults are $7.00, students $5.00 and children under 7 are only $2.00.

Get there early because seating will be limited (unlike Cal State Dominguez Hills), and parking is also at a premium. We'll have more on this event as it approaches (which is not that far, just about a month away), including previews and profiles of all the teams and analyses of the matchups your likely to get.

See you there.
