Governor's Trophy Games: At Rancho Bernardo HS Only
This year's Nike Prep Classic will essentially be three separate tournaments, all running simultaneously and pretty much independent of one another, and they'll be played at three separate locations: The "Classic Division" will be played only at Torrey Pines High School; the Mayor's Cup will be played only at San Dieguito Academy, and finally, the Governor's Trophy will be held only at Rancho Bernardo High School. None of the final games will be played at Cox Arena this year; instead they will all be held at the principal venue for each bracket, thus the event really breaks down into three separate tournaments.
The teams participating in each division are varied; most of them are from SoCal, but there are quite a few from other states and areas outside of SoCal. In the "Governor's Trophy" Division, the teams participating are: La Jolla Bishop's School, Mountain View, JW North, Merced, Ocean View, Chaparral, John Muir, Mt. Carmel, Villa Park, Miramonte, San Clemente, Poway, Carlsbad, Eisenhower, Rancho Bernardo and South Tahoe. The bracket is below along with the first round for the Governor's Trophy. Here's the schedule:
Governor's Trophy Tournament, Monday, December

We'll try to have details daily from the tournament, which might prove difficult, since we're either going to be at the Best in the West, in Santa Barbara for a tournament up there, and in Santa Maria for another tournament. In other words, we're not going to be in San Diego at all, and we're going to count on our friends and the local media, and tournament organizers to keep us all abreast of what's happening. So, normally we'd say "See you there," except this time we won't. But you should go anyway. The games will be great, and the players and organizers can use your support.
