Chaminade Christmas Classic:
Results & Day Three Schedule--(Dec. 29, 1999)
The Chaminade Christmas Classic is a 16 team tournament being hosted by West Hills Chaminade and it features some excellent teams from in and around the Valley region, as well as a couple of teams from out of town, like Riordan of San Francisco, and Faith Academy from the Phillipines, which features a lot of American kids, the children of missionaries, living in the Phillipines who are having a great time here in SoCal. We only briefly checked out the first day's action on Monday before heading down to Long Beach for the first day of the Best in the West, but what we saw was a well-run tournament with some of the areas better teams.
The top four seeds in the tournament are Moorpark and Riordan (in the upper half of the bracket), and Campbell Hall and Chaminade in the lower half of the bracket. Thus far, three of them have won, with only Campbell Hall getting knocked off by Pleasant Grove from Provo Utah. Today's quarterfinals will feature Moorpark against Riordan at 6:30 p.m. and Chaminade v. Pleasant Grove at 8:00 p.m.. If you can't make it out to the Best in the West, aren't down in San Diego, or up in Santa Barbara/Santa Maria like we are (or at any one of the other countless tournaments going on right now) you'll want to get over to Chaminade for this one.
Here are the first three days' results (the ones we have), and today's schedule as best as we can ascertain it. Quarterfinal action in both the Championship and Consolation brackets will take place today, and the Championship game is set for tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m.
