[Note: These are the program notes we wrote for the Official Best in the West Program. We know for a fact that many of the team profiles were edited to save space in the program. So, we thought we'd at least make some use of the original material by posting it up here. Additionally, with some of these teams, we've already done previews here at SoCalHoops, and where they exist, we'll link to them.

Fontana HS:  (Fontana, CA): Coach John McNally this summer found himself the beneficiary of one of the most talented crop of freshmen, among them three who have been dubbed the "Fab 3" by local media:  Trayvon Williams (6'-4" Fr. SF/SG),  Wesley Washington (6'-2" Fr. SG) Travante Nelson (5'-9" Fr. PG/SG) all of whom came from the same club travel team. Together they provide a great nucleus upon which to build yet another Fontana powerhouse CIF Div. I-AA team. Washington is a slashing, fearless player, extremely athletic, who can get to the basket and run the floor.  Williams is tall and lanky, also fearless, with great passing skills, and a good shot off the dribble. Nelson, a quick combo guard, can shoot, passes well, and shoots out to three. And all three are tenacious defenders. The Steelers also return starter Michael Stevenson (5'-10" Sr. PG), a top point guard prospect in the senior class, and high-flying Jordan Walker (6'-6" Sr. SG/SF). Cory McJimson (6'-5" So. F) another returnee, is a versatile wing player, and there are many others on this team who can get the job done. Others to watch: Shedrack Obukur (6'-1" Jr. G) a football player with good defensive skills and an excellent shot. Danny Strickland (6'-2" Sr. G) is a great shooter who can flat-out play; Jose Gallardo (6'-1" Jr. G) is a banger;  Chris Duran (6'-0" Jr. G) is a young, developing player who was MVP of the jv's last year.  Mark Mancha (6'-3" Jr. F) a lefty, is another hard-working banger inside. Nick Johnson (6'-3" Sr. F) is an excellent rebounder; Erik Curl (6'-3" Jr. F) and Guillermo Ochoa (6'-5" Jr. C) should see some time inside and help with rebounding as well.
