Dec. 3 Game Results &
Tournament Scores--(Dec. 4, 1999)
We've tried to get as many of the scores and details of games taking place all over the SoCal area as possible from yesterday, and we think we've gotten most of them. If you know of a score or a result we missed, send us an e-mail, or post it up on the message board. For the tournaments, they're organized alphabetically by the name of the tournament; for non-league games, the best we can do is organize them alphabetically using the first letter of the winning team.
Note also that we will continuously update this page throughout the day, so if you don't see a score, check back later in the day. . .

Villa Park 65, Sonora 62--Tony Bryant scored 20 points and Sean Phaler added 14 points to lead host Villa Park (1-0). The Orange County Register had a more in-depth report on the game: "Villa Park was given a scare, but came away with a narrow 65-62 victory over Sonora in the opener for both teams Friday evening. With the score tied at 60 late in the game, Villa Park's Matt McGinnis stole a Sonora pass. He then passed to Tony Bryant, who was fouled on his lay-up attempt. Bryant converted one of two free throws to make it, 61-60. Sonora came right back to take the lead when Isaac Fromson scored and was fouled. But Fromson missed the ensuing free throw, which kept the score at 62-61. It looked as if Sonora would hold on for the victory after Villa Park turned the ball over. But on the next possession, the Raiders were called for traveling, giving the ball back to Sonora with 30 seconds remaining. Bryant made the Raiders pay for the mistake as he hit a 15-foot jumper from the free throw line which gave the Spartans the lead for good. "That steal by Matt was huge," Villa Park coach Kevin Reynolds said. "He didn't have his best offensive game tonight, but played outstanding defense." Villa Park, ranked fifth in Orange County, jumped out to a 21-10 lead in the first quarter, but Sonora came back to eventually tie the game, 31-31. "We stopped executing defensively," Reynolds said. "But give Sonora credit. They broke down our defense and we couldn't handle it." It looked as if Villa Park would finally put the game away after taking a 58-49 lead with just over four minutes remaining. But Sonora's Randy Rogers hit a three-point field goal to cut the lead to 58-52. That basket jump started a 9-0 Sonora run which tied the game, 58-58. "It seemed they would chip away whenever we got ahead," Reynolds said. "But we have to realize that since we're ranked in the top 10, a lot of teams are going to be gunning for us." Bryant led Villa Park with 20 points. Robert Abreu led Sonora with 21. "
