First things first again. And this time we mean it: Here's today's schedule for the Valencia Winter Slam tourney, at Valencia High:

6:00 p.m. Valencia v. San Fernando

Now here's what happened in yesterday's games:
Chaminade 60, Antelope Valley 45--Ryan Arceo made four three-pointers for Chaminade High in a 60-45 first-round victory over Antelope Valley on Tuesday night in the Valencia tournament. Arceo finished with 14 points for the Eagles (5-0), and 6-11 center J.J. Todd had eight points, 13 rebounds and four blocked shots. Scott Borchart had 11 points and 10 rebounds for Chaminade; 7 of his 11 points in the fourth quarter. Antelope Valley (3-4) trailed only 39-37 entering the final quarter but ill-timed passes and ill-advised shots led to the loss, as the Antelopes were outscored 21-8 in the fourth quarter.Adam Ruszkowski had four 3-pointers pointers to lead the Antelopes with 21 points
Quartz Hill 69, Notre Dame 58--Jason Tomlin and Brady Chelette each scored 17 points for the Rebels in a first-round victory at the Valencia tournament. Chelette had three assists, three steals and four rebounds, and Tomlin had four assists. Cody Pearson scored 22 points for Notre Dame, and Chris Williams had 12. Dante Ward also scored 11. Others scoring for Notre Dame were Barton with 5, Anderson 4, Lutz 2, Hungerford 2. For Quartz Hill, Andrew Austin added 11, K. Johnson 8, T. Johnson 8, Almaullem 4, Butchard 2, and Walker 2. Quartz Hill will face Eisenhower, which defeated Royal in another first round game tomorrow.
Eisenhower 88, Royal 56--Trenell Eddings scored 27 points and Calvin Afualo added
24 as undefeated Eisenhower improved to 5-0 with an 88-56 win over Royal. Eisenhower
outscored Royal 23-14 in the first quarter and then broke away completely in the second
quarter, outscoring Royal 28-9. Others scoring for Eisenhower were Rouzan 5, Ellis
2, Wilson 4, Hart 5, Ang 3, Curtis 5, James 6, Amaya 3, and Franklin with 4 points. For
Royal, Moberly had 11, Jamovsek had 10, Foster 9, Law 8, Dickson 6, Ronquillo 6, Rice 5,
and Cruz 1.
Chatsworth 48, Ventura 43--Mark Canon scored 17 points, Marlik Morris 12 and
Richard Harrison 11 for Chatsworth (4-2), which used a 16-8 fourth-quarter run to defeat
Ventura 48-43. Jeff Staniland led the Cougars (3-2) with 15 points. Ronald Ruffin
also added 6 points for Chatworth, while Adam Drell had another 2. Ventura's scoring
was, in addition to Staniland, Derff with 8, Baney 7, Ellis 4, Rutuson 3, Colulton 3, Hall
2 and Pabst 1.
