Buckley led at the end of the first half, and was within 6 just before the half. Buckley managed to stay close in the early going on the fine offensive effort of Colin Ward-Henninger (6'-3" So. SG/SF) who finished with 15 points, Jeremy Howard (6'-5" Sr. SF/C) who ended up taking three charges, and Adam Pastor (6'-0" Jr. PG/SG) who finished with 13 points. A good defensive effort and impressive ball-handling was shown by David Gale (5'-10" Fr. PG) for about half the game, and Sasha Rahban (5'-11" Sr. SG) and Alex Clancy (5'-10" So. SG) also played well, but Buckley was outscored 32-17 in the second half. Price is 1-0, and Buckley is now 1-1 on the season.
San Marino 41, Maranatha 38-- Russell Spruinger hit a 3 pointer from the corner with one second left as the Titans (3-0) beat Maranatha. The Minutemen (1-1) fought back from a 10 point deficit to tie the game in the final minute, but San Marino's Danny Liu who scored a game high 17 points came up with a key steal with less than 20 seconds to play, setting the stage for the last minute three pointer.
Cleveland 111, Elizabeth Street Learning Center 43--Kent Dennis had 27 points, 10 rebounds, 11 steals and 10 assists in a nonconference opener at Cleveland. The Cavaliers forced 46 turnovers.
Hart 58, La Canada 53--The Spartans (0-3) made nine
three-pointers, but the Indians (2-0) won a nonleague game at La Canada. Without Matt
Moore who is now at Loyola Marymount, the Spartans' bread and butter play is gone

The loss was the third straight for La Canada which had never started 0-3 in Tom
Hofman's 12 seasons as coach. Hart (2-0), which never trailed, led by as many as 16
points early in the third quarter, but La Canada trimmed it to 47-39 after three quarters.

the second quarter on freshman Robbie Neyland's 17-footer, but Hart went on a 14-5 run
in the final five minutes.
