San Diego Hoops: Tournaments This Weekend--(Dec. 18, 1998)

There are at least four tournaments going on this week & weekend in San Diego that we know about.  They are:

1.  The Tri-City Eagle Classic At Tri-City Christian High School

This 8 team tournament features: Hamilton (San Diego?) Capistrano Valley Christian, Vincent Memorial, CEDU,  SFC, Borrego Springs, Tri-City Christian, and Escondido Adv. Academy

2.  Pepsi-Cola/Sweetwater Holiday Classic At Sweetwater High

Another 8 team tournament featuring Monte Vista, D.Thompson, Kearny,  Helix, Hilltop,  El Capitan, St. Georges, and Sweetwater

3.  San Diego Christmas Classic At Grossmont

This is a 16 team tournament which features Long Beach Poly and several of the better and larger teams from the San Diego area, including   Fleetwood Park, Lincoln, Eastlake/Valley Ctr., St. Augustine,  Clairemont, Grossmont, Boulder City, Bishop's, Abbotsford, Horizon, Santana, Poway,  Montgomery,
Modesto Christian, Mar Vista, and Torrey Pines

4. 52nd Kiwanis Holiday Tournament at Hoover High

Another 16 team tourney featuring Central Union, Ramona,   Granite Hills,  San Marcos, Mission Bay,  Mt. Miguel, Serra, University City, Rancho Bernardo, El Cajon,  Corona Centennial, Southwest, San Diego, Brawley, and Carlsbad

The San Diego Union-Tribune now has a prep sports page, and they are reporting the scores, and sometimes more in the way of details on some of these games.  If you're down in the San Diego area, there is some really good hoops action, and these will serve as a pretty good prelude to the San Diego Nike Holiday Classic, the big one which takes place from December 26-31.  We'll have the brackets up for that one shortly. Stay tuned.
