Flintridge Prep 51, Oakwood 35--Charles Winters and Devin Brown each scored 12 points for host Flintridge Prep (4-2) in a nonleague game. Winters scored all of his points in the second half and Brown made eight free throws in the fourth quarter. The Rebels converted 17 of 22 free throws in the final quarter.
Calabasas 65, Taft 63--Spencer Hariton sank two free throws with eight seconds to play, giving Calabasas High a 65-63 victory over Taft in a nonleague boys' basketball game Thursday at Calabasas. Mike Goldman scored 14 of his 26 points in the fourth quarter for the Coyotes (6-5), who trailed at halftime, 33-28. Hariton finished with 19 points, including two three-point baskets down the stretch, when the Coyotes twice overcame nine-point deficits. Andy Maccalla grabbed 12 rebounds for Calabasas. Ronald Gray, who also plays for Ultra Student Athletes, scored 21 points for Taft (4-2).
Hemet 64, San Bernardino 34--Hemet (6-2) held San Bernardino to two points until the final minute of the first half as the Bulldogs spoiled the Cardinals' home opener. They went into the locker room with a 28-6 lead at the half. James Draine scored 19 points and Dan Christiansen had eight rebounds for Hemet. "We were kind of ambushed against Rubidoux and had a real lackluster performance," Hemet coach Alex Boyd said. "We kind of figured the next person (team) would pay." Scorers for Hemet were Day 16, Draine 19, Voto 12, Christiansen 6, Marquez 4, Ziegler 2, Rees 4, Nia 1. San Bernardino scorers were Miller 2, Thaxton 14, Carter 7, Terrell 3, Mixon 1, Farrell 3, Jackson 2, Nannette 2.
Palo Verde 57, River Valley (Ariz.) 55--Glenn Blanks hit a 15-foot jumper with 20 seconds left to send Blythe Palo Verde to a non-league victory over River Valley, Ariz. The Yellowjackets (5-3) led all the way until the final quarter, when Chad Christensen sank a three-pointer and had a four-point play to put River Valley (3-5) up 55-50. "We had to create a special defense to combat what he could do," Palo Verde coach Randy Peterson said of Christensen. River Valley scorers were Alford 4, Christensen 28, Sherman 12, Armenta 2, Tice 7, Light 2. Palo Verde scoring was by Cooper with 19, Peterson 7, Johnson 6, Blanks 9, Wright 8, O'Brien 2, Coppel 6.
Whitewater 79, Wilson Creek 55--Julious White scored 28 points to lead Whitewater (4-0) to a non-league victory. Wilson Creek scorers were Fains 21, Battey 0, Holifield 2, Mainville 16, Zoober 6. Whitewater scoring was by DeAvila 22, Moore 7, White 28, Chunn 10, Renfro 5, Fontenot 4, Keller 2, Smith 1.
Rialto 75, Valley View 56--Rialto (5-0) shut down
Moreno Valley Valley View's leading scorer, Jerry Dupree, early in a non-league game. By
holding Dupree to three points in the first half, the Knights were able to build a
15-point halftime lead. Junior center David Joiner led the Knights with 17 points and 21
rebounds. Junior point guard Jocquis Sconiers scored eight and had 11 assists. "We
have a lot of quickness," Knights coach Scott Perong said. Dupree still managed 24
points in the game. Valley Views other scorers were Mims 4, Peters 4, Hampton 5,
Mann 4, Williams 4, Russ 9, and Logan 2.

Redlands East Valley 81, Cajon 72--Kai Lyles
had 24 points, nine rebounds and six assists as Redlands East Valley (6-1) knocked off San
Bernardino Cajon in a non-league game. Cajon (3-4) led by 10 in the first quarter, but the
Wildcats recovered to take the lead by halftime. Russell DeGood added 15 points and six
assists for Redlands East Valley. Blake Walker scored 22 points to lead Cajon. Other
Cajon scoring was by Lawson 2, Roby 15, Acker 8, Morris 6, Sims 9, Hamilton 8, and
Houston 2. Redlands East Valley complete scoring was Arambula 13, DeGood 15,
Washington 14, Luszeck 5, Lyles 24, Werdein 2, Holcombe 5, Royster 3.
