Non-League Games: Late Friday and Saturday--(Dec. 6, 1998)

Western Christian51, Ontario Christian 49--Joey Dyche hit two free throws with seven seconds left in overtime to lift visiting Western Christian. Both teams saw their records go to 1-1 after the decision. Ryan Fuqua led OCHS, which dominated the fourth quarter thanks to its pressing defense, with 14 points. For WC the complete scoring was Wood 18, Dyche 10, Gross 4, Locke 2, Meister 3, and Barthelmess 14. For OC, the scorers were Koolhaas 4, Agee 9, Travis 2, Struiksma 2, Grant 4, Fuqua 14, Douma 7, and Verkaik 7.

Friday's Late Result

Upland 71,  A.B. Miller 56 --Upland jumped out to a 23-6 first quarter lead and then pretty much played AB Miller even for the rest of the game, as Desmond Pinegar scored 12 points, had 10 boards and eight blocks, while Matt Santos had 6, but the big story was Collin Strand's 21 points, including four three-pointers in the first half as Upland pounded out the win.  Complete scoring for Upland was Strand 21, Pruitt 6, Santos 6, Musa 6, Harris 9, Penigar 12, Busan 10, Hamilton 1.  Apparently Steve Hamilton either didn't play much or just didn't make much of an impact in the stats, and we're not really sure what happened.  For AB Miller, the scoring was Nelson 6, Cochran 2, Jorrin 9, Lanzarotto 9, Knight 15, Ward 2, Estrada 9, Kingsland 2, and Scott 2
