Las Vegas Prep Championship Results:
First Round--(Dec. 28, 1998)
Despite some confusion this is not
the Reebok Holiday Prep Classic. Instead it's the "Las Vegas Prep
Championship" which is a smaller tournament traditionally held the week after the
larger Reebok tourney. The tournament opened on Saturday and games were and will
continue to be played at Las Vegas High School and
Eldorado High School
Troy 82, Las Vegas 38--Jerry Inzunza
scored a game-high 29 points and Theron Chaney added 13 points and 13 rebounds to lead the
Warriors (8-3) past Las Vegas (5-4) in a first-round game. Troy, which plays Durango on
Monday at 2:10 p.m., opened a 37-17 lead at intermission.
Las Vegas Clark 67, Newport Harbor 65--Matt Jameson had 25 points and Dustin
Illingworth had 22 for Newport Harbor (9-2). Kevin Gaines scored a game-high 36 points,
connecting on four three-pointers to lead host Clark (7-3) to victory. Matt Jameson led
the No. 2 Sailors (9-2) with 25 points and Dustin Illingsworth added 22 in a losing effort

Here are Monday's games in the championship bracket; we'll try to get results later, but
it will probably have to wait until we can get our hands on another Las Vegas paper, since
the internet version of the Las Vegas Review-Journal (which sponsored the
"rival" --or at least preceding-- Reebok Holiday Prep Classic) doesn't seem to
want to publish any results of this tournament. Anyway here were today's (Monday's)
games.
Durango vs. Troy
Cimarron-Memorial vs. Chaparral
Cheyenne vs. Pacifica
Silverado vs. Shadow Mountain
Basic vs. Las Vegas
Tustin vs. Western
