Jason Kapono Update: Only Time Will Tell--(Dec. 26, 1998)

Well, it looks like this is really a continuing non-story.  Jason Kapono (6'-8" Sr. PG/SG/SF/PF) who still has the same schools on his list (UNLV, Utah, Missouri, Rhode Island, and Syracuse) continues to get called by the Cal coaches, and Scott Beeten was out at Long Beach State yesterday to watch Jason.   We spoke with Jason's dad Joe, and he told us that Jason has not even thought about recruiting since the start of  the season, and won't until things settle down after the playoffs in March.  He obviously won't commit until spring, and he's taken four visits and still has one left. "Jason doesn't even want to think about the recruiting process right now. He just wants to have a good season and win," Joe told us.

We also talked a bit with Dalron Johnson (6'-9" Sr. PF) who has signed with UNLV, and he said it would be great if Jason would commit to the Rebels too, but if he's talking to Jason or Jason is talking to him, he wasn't letting on at all.   Again, with Mr. Kapono, it seems only time will tell.
