The Straight Scoop On Jason Kapono--(Dec. 2, 1998)

We just got word that Jason Kapono (6'-8" Sr. SG/SF/PF) has made a decision to eliminate NC State from the running.  Jason's father called NC State last night to say Jason is no longer considering going there. The coaches at NC State were first-class about it, and respected his decision, telling him that if he changed his mind they would gladly accept him.

We also know that the Cal thing has a modicum of truth to it. Cal phoned Jason in the last week, and Jason, being the polite kid he is, told coach Braun that his options were still open. So he is really down to five schools who are pretty solid on his list, UNLV, Utah, Missouri, Rhode Island and now   Syracuse.  The latter is the only one he has yet to visit.  And Cal is in the wings. To quote our source on this one, "Who  knows what the next day will bring."  Indeed.
