Claremont-Damien Tournament Results--(Dec. 6, 1998)
Thomas Taylor scored 13 points and George Lewis added eight
rebounds as Claremont (4-0) defeated Damien Saturday night, 62-46, to complete the
tournament the two schools co-hosted. For his work, Tayler was named the
tournament's MVP. A 23-point fourth quarter paved the way to the Wolfpack victory,
as they held the Spartans to just 16 points in the second half, six in the final quarter.
Damien's complete scoring was Minjares 4, Roy 11, Saya 3,
O'Hara 14, Navarre 14.
Claremont's complete scoring for the game was: Whitton 2, Cox 8, Taylor 13, Lewis 17,
Douglas 5, Bragg 8, Taylor 7, Simmons 2.
In the Fifth place game:
Baldwin Park 65, Ganesha 48-- Godoy and Drumin
combined for 33 of the Baldwin Park's 65 points to lead the Braves (3-1) to their third
win of the season and fifth place in the tournament. Full scoring for Baldwin park was:
Harrison 2, Cordero 16, Jimenez 9, Godoy 17, Fajardo 3, Drumin 16, King 2 For
Ganesha, the scorers were Romero 7, Ike 12, Warren 26, Lewis 1, Friend 2
In the Seventh Place Game:
Chino 86, Kilpatrick 43-- Brett Williams scored 10 of his 14 points in the second
quarter as the Chino Cowboys improved to 1-3 and won the seventh place spot, defeating
Kilpatrick, a school located in Malibu. For Chino the scorers were Sandoval 4, Munoz 13,
Adrian Aquino 22, Williams 14, Fisher 4, Cryer 4, Ginn 1, Polidore 14, Richards 10.
For Kilpatrick the scoring was Torrence 4, Johnson 3, Prince 5, Calvert 20, Howard
9, Baker 1, Bates 1.
