High School Team Update:
Villa Park HS--(Nov. 26, 1999)

We've already done a fairly extensive preview of Villa Park, which can be accessed by clicking on the link.  To the extent that there's anything new to learn, here's what the LA Times had to say in it's preview of the team published on November 23, 1999 in the Orange County edition of the paper:

Coach: Kevin Reynolds
1998-99 record: 19-8
League record: 8-2

Coach Kevin Reynolds (91-25, three league titles) might have his best team. Juniors Matt MacGinnis (6-2 wing) and Kyle Egkan (6-8 center) return. The 5-10 point guard, Bryan Arguello; 6-1 wing Tom Stankan; 6-5 post Eric Tadeja, and 6-3 junior guard Tony Bryant, a transfer from Marina, are competing for starting jobs. Others are 6-5 post Austin Beardsley, 6-4 wing Andrew Grant, 6-0 point guard Corey Miller, 6-8 wing Sean Phaler and 6-8 post Brice Prather.

The Orange County Register had the same players listed, and Steve Fryer had this to say about the team: "A tall-and-talented group that is favored to win the league championship, despite its shortage of seniors.  This should remain one of the county's top programs for years to come."
