PacWestHoops Identifies
Top Soph Players--(Nov. 24, 1999)

Earlier this fall, we posted SoCalHoops' own lists of the "Best of the Best" players in Class of 2002.  And whenever we come across other peoples lists and  "rankings," we like to bring you the names of those SoCal players whom others believe are noteworthy.  For example, we've noted those players listed (by  position), at Dinos Trigonis' new site, Fullcourt Press, including the top sophomore players.  We've republished (and categoriezed by position) Clark Francis' lists of the top players in California (with Clark's permission) which appear at his national recruiting site, the HoopScoop.  We've also written about the Blue Ribbon Basketball Yearbook High School All-Americans, including among them about 18 sophomores from California.  We've posted the top sophomore players as well at the Double Pump website from their California Cage Report. And if WestCoastHoops was still around, we'd be telling you about their selections too.

As the next closest thing to WCH, PacWestHoops' Tracy Pierson has previously posted listings and rankings of the top seniors and juniors, by position (links to these articles are right on the front page of PWH).  Yesterday,  PWH began posting their lists of the top players on the West Coast in the sophomore class.  Like our own lists at SoCalHoops, Tracy has not "ranked" players by number; likewise, he's also made a point of saying that the PWH lists show the players in a completely random order, and with this we agree:  These guys are all young, they'll grow and develop at varying rates, and to numerically rank them at this stage, wouldn't make much sense.

Thus far, PacWestHoops has listed only three positions in the class: The Top Soph PGs, SG's and SF's; we presume that they'll eventually get around to the other positions in the next day or two.

The complete PacWestHoops PG list can be found at this link for those who want to see all of the players listed from up and down the West Coast. Among those were the following 10 SoCal-based players (in alphabetical order):
