48th Annual Pacific Shores Tournament
First Round--(Nov. 23, 1999)

The start of the high school season is about to begin, and there are several early tournaments taking place in and around SoCal.  One of the first, oldest and best is the Pacific Shores Tournament, which is in it's 48th installment this year, hosted by Redondo Union and Mira Costa High Schools.  Redondo Head Coach Jim Nielsen faxed us the first round matchups and they are impressive.

The tournament will begin on Monday, November 29, 1999, and will continue through December 4.  The Championship game will take place at Redondo Union on Saturday, December 4 at 7:30 p.m.; it will be preceded by the third place game at 6:00 p[.m. and the Consolation Championship at 4:00 p.m.  In between there will be some excellent matchups.  Here's the first round:

Day Time Location Opponents
Monday 6:00 p.m. Mira Costa Fairfax v. Hawthorne
Monday 7: 30 p.m. Mira Costa Banning v. Bishop Montgomery
Monday 6:00 p.m. Redondo Union Leuzinger v. Morningside
Monday 7:30 p.m. Redondo Union Bell v. Redondo
Tuesday 6:00 p.m. Mira Costa Carson v.South Torrance
Tuesday 7:30 p.m. Mira Costa North Torrance v. Mira Costa
Tuesday 6:00 p.m Redondo Union Mayfair v. LA Washington
Tuesday 7:30 p.m. Redondo Union Valencia v. LA Jefferson

Redondo Union HS is located at 631 Vincent Park, in Redondo Beach.  Take the 405 to Hawthorne and continue south to Del Amo, and then turn West into the school.  Mira Costa is located at 701 South Peck Avenue, in Manhattan Beach.   From the 405 exhit at Redondo Beach Blvd (west) and take that to Peck. Redondo Beach turns into Artesia past Hawthorne, so pay attention.

Here's some maps below just in case the above didn't make any sense:
