Glenn McGowan
Recruiting Update--(Nov. 8, 1999)

Remember Glen McGowan (6'-7" SG/SF) from Venice H.S, who last year averaged 27 ppg as a  senior?  Well, Glen did not graduate from Venice, but is now attending Notre Dame Prep in Dame Prep in Fitchburgh, Massachussetts (largely through the help of Bob Gottlieb, who is also actively assisting a number of other players with their recruitment, but that's a whole different story), and we heard this past weekend that Notre Dame Prep's Athletic Director Bill Barton has reported that Glen is doing very well, both on the court and in the classroom.

Glen was recruited early last fall by several West Coast Division I schools, largely on the strength of his 1998 summer play with one of the Pump N Run teams, but Glen just never really got it done in the classroom, and he didn't get serious about his grades until his junior year in high school.  But at Notre Dame Prep, Glen is currently taking 7 courses and doing a great job and should not only graduate, but qualify for an NCAA scholarship. Notre Dame has two teams, an A and a B team. Glen is a starter on their A  team and Providence, Maine and Wright State all have shown great interest in recruiting him.

Another SoCal native, Nate Daniels (6'-8" Sr. F) from Escondido H.S. in San Diego, who averaged 29 ppg in high school, and who also played well for BWBA this past summer at the adidas Las Vegas Big Time Tournament is also attending Notre Dame Prep under a scholarship and is likewise performing well in and out of the classroom, and he's expected to be an important contributor and a potential beneficiary of a D-I scholarship as well.
