Those who read our Cathedral City High School team preview already know about the Desert City Winter Basketball Classic, which is hosted by Palm Desert High School and Cathedral City. The games are played at both schools, and this is going to be a fairly competitive event. The tournament will run from December 6-8 and 10-11. Pool Play games will be featured from the 6-8, and then three games each will be hosted on Friday, Dec. 10, starting at 4:30 pp.m., 6;00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.. From there, teams will be placed in brackets, which will include a Championship bracket for each pool winner, a 5th place bracket, with the four secnd place pool finishers, and a consolation bracket with the four third place pool finishers. The finals will be held on Saturday, December 11: Palm Desert will host four games, at 12:00 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 3:15 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.; Cathedral City will host two games Saturday at 3:15 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.

This should be a fun tournament, so if you're out in the Desert area and want to see great high school hoops, this is your chance. Palm Desert High School is located at 43-570 Phyllis Jackson Lane in Palm Desert. The easiest way to get there is take the I-10 to Cook, south (right) to Phyllis Jackson; the school will be on your right. Cathedral City is located at 69-250 Dinah Shore Drive. If you're coming from outside the Desert area, take the I-10 freeway, Exit south on Date Palm, turn east on Dinah Shore Drive and continue to Plumley, and turn north into the school (you can't miss it).
