UCLA Gets Verbal From
T.J. Cummings--(Nov. 1, 1999)

Jim Downs at Bruin Hoop Report is reporting that UCLA has secured a verbal commitment from T.J. Cummings (6'-9" Sr. PF) from Flossmoor, Illinois. And Tracy Pierson at Bruin Report Online is also reporting the same thing, but with a bit more from the source himself, saying that Cummings will make an official announcement tomorrow at his home. "I know where I want to go," Cummings told Pierson. "It's been a tough decision, but it will feel good to get it over." The Bruin Report Online article does not actually state that Cummings has made a decision to play for the Bruins, but Downs' site does make the prediction that in fact Cummings has verballed, "according to reliable sources." We're willing to go with Jim on this one, so we'll say that Cummings has committed. Hey, if we're wrong, sue us. We'll all find out tomorrow.

Cummings visited DePaul last weekend and has already also taken visits to UCLA and Duke. With the impending verbal of Cummings to UCLA and that of Jeffries to IU, this makes two huge inside guys who have turned down Duke in the last 24 hours. Not that we feel sorry for Coach K, who's been known to throw a monkey wrench or two into UCLA's recruiting the last few years, so maybe it's his turn for a change. . . . Wonder if we'll see Grant Hill again at Pauley next year? Not that it will matter. . . .
