Youth Leagues: So Many
Leagues, So Little Time--(Nov. 25, 1998)

American Roundball Corporation (ARC) begins its winter session shortly, and signups are underway now.  The ARCWinterLeague, for boys and girls in grades 1-8, will be conducted locally at five locations: North Hollywood High School, Poly High School in Sun Valley, the Santa Clarita Athletic Club, Pierce College and Taft High School in Woodland Hills, along with locations in Northern California and Las Vegas. Play will commence on Sunday, January 10, 1999 and run through March 7, 1999. There will be divisions for 14u/8th, 13u/7th, 12u/6th, 11u/5th, 10u/4th, and 9u, 8u, 7u, 6u/3rd, 2nd,
1st, K. Cost per team will be $800. Entry fees are due by December 12, 1998. Each team will play at least 7 league games. After league play comes the play-off tournament for all teams in all divisions. Interest continues to increase, so get your entries in before the league fills up

This year-round program, coupled with the ARC Instructional Basketball Academy, is one of   the fastest growing programs in the country, and additional  sites scheduled to begin play soon in Ventura County, Orange County, the San Gabriel Valley, Hawaii, Utah, Indiana, Oregon, Arkansas, and Arizona.

And in addition to ARC and LA City, there are a number of other great organizations that sponsor youth leagues and teams, and today's edition of the Long Beach Press-Telegram had quite a few, mostly in the Long Beach, Compton, South Bay area but also extending as far as Bellflower, Lynwood, and Artesia.
