Spencer Gloger Is A Tiger:
Commits To Princeton--(Nov. 24, 1998)
Frank Burlison reports today that Spencer Gloger (6'-5" Sr. SG/SF) from Santa Margarita High, will enroll at Princeton next fall. In choosing the Tigers, Spencer passed over offers from Penn, USD, University of Richmond, Pepperdine, USF, Harvard, Dartmouth, and Cal Poly SLO. Spencer's older brother Brad (6'-5" So. F) currently plays for coach Armond Hill at Columbia, and it will be fun to watch Spencer take on Brad when the two Ivy League teams meet next year, and it should also save the Gloger family at least a little on travel expenses by making a single visit to the Columbia-Princeton game.
Spencer was on the Santa Margarita team last year that won the State Division II Championship, and he's one of the few returning players (others include Ryan Dwight, (5'-9" Sr. PG), Tim Rahall (6'-2" Sr. SG), Jeff Blackburn (6'-3" Sr. SF), and Kelly Kramer (6'-4" Sr. SF)). He's an excellent athlete, and given the fact that he's grown about 5 inches in the last year or so, he still thinks like a point guard which gives him a tremendous advantage with great perimeter skills. He's a good passer, sees the floor very well, and moves well with and without the ball. A very good signing by coach Bill Carmody and the Tigers.
Spencer will join another fellow SoCal players, Nate Walton (6'-7" Jr. F) from University of San Diego High School (with a name like Walton, would he be from anywhere else), and Ray Robbins (6'-7" Fr. F) from Paso Robles, and Phil Belin (6'-4" Jr. G/F) from Palos Verdes Peninsula High in Ranchos Palos Verdes. There is one other player from California on the Princeton team this year, Phil Jackman (6'-5" Fr. F) from San Ramon High in Danville. Congratulations to Princeton and Spencer on finding the right fit.
