Reebok Compton Tip-Off Classic Reminder--(Nov. 18, 1998)

In addition to all the other people we ran into at the USC game, we also saw and chatted with Dinos Trigonis (of Belmont Shore Basketball, MLK Dream Classic, Long Beach Fall Hoops Classic, Rim Rattler All-Stars, and Fullcourt Press Recruiting among his other talents)  who was at the game with Compton coach Rod Palmer and Etop Udo-Ema, organizer of the Reebok Compton Tip-off Classic, which will take place at Compton College on November 30 & December 1.   So this is once again time for a reminder about the event, and some of the great matchups you'll see.   We've already done full profiles and previews of all of the teams playing (well, with the exception of Pomona, and that's only because Derrick Pugh never returns anyone's phone calls). Here are the matchups:

November 30:

4:30: Ayala v Serra:
6:00: LB Jordan v JW North
7:30: LB Poly v Bishop Montgomery

December 1:

5:00: Pomona v Bishop's School
6:30: Dominguez v Crossroads
8:00: Compton v Lynwood

You'll want to catch all of these games.   Compton College, is located at 1111 E. Artesia Boulevard, Compton, CA 90221 (just thought we'd throw in the zip code for you anyway in case you want to mail yourself there ahead of time).  To get to Compton College if you are coming from the North (i.e., the Valley, Pasadena, anywhere north of Compton: If you are coming from the Westside or the Valley, take either the 405 or the 110 Harbor Freeway south to the 91. Take the 91 east and take the Alameda Street offramp, and go north about a block to Artesia Blvd, and turn right. The college will be on your left (north). The gym entrance is off of Artesia on Delta Ave. If you are coming from the northeast (Pasadena) take the 710 Long Beach Freeway south to the 91 west, and get off on Santa Fe/Alameda (it's the first exit after the interchange). If you're coming from the south, just reverse the freeway directions. However you do it, you want to get to the 91 and exit at Alameda or Santa Fe.
