Bill Mulligan JC Tournament--(Nov. 18, 1998)

We got the following note from one of our readers and thought we'd share it with you. If the person had signed the letter with a real name, we'd have shared that too, but for now it's just an anonymous note:

Just thought you might want to know about the Bill Mulligan Classic that is going to be held at Irvine Valley JC this Thursday thru Saturday. The tournament is the number one rated JC tournament in the state this year and features Long Beach, Cerritos, Mt. San Jacinto, and College of the Canyons, four teams from the preseason Top 10. The tournament also will have several of the top JC players in the state. Kevin Blunt and highly regarded Schea Cotton will be playing for LBCC, Mt. San Jacinto's team is said to be loaded with  D-I talent, and #18 Irvine Valley will have one of the better guards in the state playing for them in combo guard Commander King. The games start at 2:00 Thursday with Hancock playing Southwestern. LBCC vs. Riverside follows at four o'clock. San Jacinto plays Cerritos at six, and IVC plays Canyons in the nightcap. The semifinals will be played on Friday at 6:00 and 8:00, and the championship will be on Saturday at seven. The tournament should be real exciting and should showcase some of the finer JC teams who could challenge for the state title come the end of the season.

Obviously this is going to be one of the better and more competitive tournaments around this weekend, and anyone interested in seeing the top JC talent in SoCal will want to make it down to Irvine Valley College.  Don't miss it.
