Marcus Moore Update: Everything's
Gonna Be Allright--(Nov. 18, 1998)

"Allright" is sort of the understatment of the century when it comes to talking about anyone playing with Compton Dominguez this year. But that's what Marcus Moore (6'-4" Sr. PG) told us when we talked to him tonight. "Everything's working out fine, it's going to be allright," Marcus said. "We're so talented, and so deep, that the real job for us as a team is to just fight for a spot in the rotation."

And right about now, the extremely talented left-handed point guard who transferred from Redondo Union recently (a transfer which was in doubt for a while until recently when it was approved by the Southern Section) has worked himself into the starting point guard spot.  Marcus has been sort of quiet in the recruitment department until now, but there are a lot of schools looking at him, and several who are on his list. "Right now I'm in the process of meeting with my coach to set up official visits, and it looks like Oregon State, San Jose State, Auburn, and Washington State are very interested.  Of course, I'm interested in the Pac-10, and if UCLA was interested in me at some point, that would be great," Marcus told us. "You know, growing up in LA, it's every kid's dream here to one day play for UCLA."  Of course he realizes that the Bruins are a bit heavy at the point spot for now, but said "I'm big enough to play the two also."

Moore could be one of the top players on the West Coast this year. He's quick, agile, a true point who has excellent court vision, and is very skilled, a true student of the game.  Marcus told us that he's very happy playing with the Dominguez guys, and still has a lot of fond feelings for his ex-teammates over at Redondo.  He believes that Tyson has incredible potential and really enjoys playing with him, but he also misses Andrew Zahn (6'-9 Jr. F/C) from Redondo Union, saying "Tyson probably has more potential overall, but Andrew has a very polished post game and is great to play with too.  But I'm very happy here."

"The biggest challenge is being so deep. With guys like Kincade, Brooks, Darius, Larry Johnson, Keilon, Tyson, and everyone else, we have two or three guys who can all play just about anywhere on the floor. It makes for really fun practices and you never know who's going to be doing what on the floor at any given time."  When asked about who the likely starters would be, he said "Coach hasn't told us yet, and he's not really saying. Actually just about anyone on this team could start."
