Michael Goldman's Condition Updated--(Nov. 29, 1998)

Yesterday we wrote that we had heard an unconfirmed report that Michael Goldman (6'-2" Sr. PG) of Calabasas High, had been injured, potentially seriously and may have suffered a compressed disc in his spine, which might have led to him not playing a part (or all) of the season.  Back injuries can be tricky, and today we got word from Michael's father, Larry Goldman, who wrote to inform us that while it was originally believed Michael's injury was quite serious, his condition was diagnosed as simply a "slight lower back sprain"  and his father also says Michael "will be ready to play this Wednesday against Alemany in the Saugus Tournament."

We haven't yet seen Michael play, and we just might have to take our own advice and get out to see him, because he does appear, along with Spencer Harriton, to be among Sondheimer's favorite players this year.  Michael was ineligible all of last year, in part we understand from his father due to ADD Syndrome, but he's reportedly brought his grades up and should remain eligible throughout the season.  So barring any further complications or injuries, look for Goldman to have an impressive season if his summer stats are any indication.
