Eric Rohwer Of Burbank To
Sign With SDSU--(Nov. 14, 1998)
We just spoke with Cathy Rohwer, the mother of Eric Rohwer (6'-9" Sr. F/C) from Burbank High, and the family is on its way to the San Diego State game tonight (it's SDSU's last exhibition game before the first regular season game next week) and Eric is expected to commit tonight to coach Fred Trenkle, and sign a national letter of intent before the early signing period ends next week.
Eric is a big, strong guy who has vastly
improved his game over the summer, but who was being under-recruited until a few weeks ago
when Clyde Drexler and Houston got involved. He was originally being recruited
heavily by USC, but when they offered Nate Hair (6'-4" Sr. SG/SF) they only had one
left to give and dropped out. Eric visited Houston last weekend on an official
visit, but opted to sign a bit closer to home. "He's really excited about playing
with the new players on the SDSU team, like Myron Epps and David Abramowitz," said
his mother Cathy. "He's also hoping a lot of his friends from Burbank will go to San
Diego State with him who were also undecided about which colleges to attend."
We've been pretty high on Eric for the last several years, and he's a good
rebounder, is very active, runs the floor well, and can put his
body on an opponent and uses his feet well. Eric also has a decent shot from in and around
the basket, and an excellent drop steop, and his hands and passing is dramatically
improved.
Eric has been coached by Ron Quarterman at Burbank High, who has also coached many other local big men on his ARC teams, including Jason and Jarron Collins (Stanford) and Travis Reed (UCLA). In opting for SDSU, Eric passed on Houston and Navy. This is a very good get for San Diego State, and should be a good fit for Eric.
