Dalron Johnson Commits To UNLV--(Nov. 18, 1998)
Mark Mayemura and Dave Benezra of Recruiting USA, are reporting that Dalron Johnson (6'-9" Sr. PF) from Verbum Dei has signed a national letter of intent with UNLV and Bill Bayno. These guys, who also coached Dalron are certainly in a position to know, and they wouldn't be reporting it unless it was confirmed beyond any doubt. If you're interested in reading their take, visit their website (and think about subscribing, because on a national level, they've got the best and latest news of almost anyone). Here's the word from R-USA's front page:
"It's now a done deal, Dalron Johnson, the 6'9, 210-pound small forward/power forward (Verbum Dei HS/Los Angeles, CA) has signed a letter of intent with UNLV. For the past week, it appeared that Johnson might wait until spring to commit, but he changed his mind late last night and committed this morning. Johnson, who selected UNLV over California and Duquesne, is one of the biggest sleepers in the class with a huge upside (we're talking NBA first-round round upside!). This was a major recruiting battle with UNLV's Bill Bayno and Greg "Shoes" Vetrone hitting the jackpot."
Congratulations to Dalron and UNLV. Now it's back to defending the Division V State Championship.
