Southern California Regional
Playoffs To Be Played In San Diego--(Nov. 12, 1998)
It's probably way too early to be thinking
about the Southern California Regional Playoffs for the CIF State Championship, but we
think you can never plan far enough in advance. So with that in mind, mark your
calendars and remember that come this March 13, after the Southern Section, City Section
and San Diego and Central Section playoffs have ended, and the respective section
champions and runners-up have been selected for the State Regional tournament, you'll be
able to see the March 13 playoff game at the Cox Arena at Aztec Bowl at UCSD.
According to the State CIF office, four games will be played in the new gym on the San
Diego State campus, but the decision as to which ones will not be determined until the
seeding committee meets in early March.
And for those of you around the SoCal area, you'll also get plenty of opportunity to see
the other Southern Regional games: The other six games will be played in the Long
Beach Pyramid, which hosted four Southern California Regional contests last season.
Last year, Pauley Pavilion was the other Regional location last season, but there
will not be games there this year.
This is the first time San Diego has been selected as a state tournament Regional
Championship site.
