Calloway Close To Commiting To CSUN--(Nov. 6, 1998)
The Daily News is reporting today that Craig Calloway (6'-0" Sr. PG) from Long Beach Jordan is reportedly close to giving Cal State Northridge a verbal commitment. He made a visit to the campus last weekend and was at the exhibition game which was the debut of Rico Harris (6'-9" Jr. PF). Not surprisingly, CSUN, which played the Double Pump California All-Stars, won the game 84-78.
Brian Dohn of the Daily News spoke with
Calloway Thursday night, and he said: "I didn't talk to the coaches, but most likely
that's where I'm going to go. "I'm leaning toward it." According to Dohn,
Calloway was trying to get in touch with Cal State Northridge coach Bobby Braswell to nail
down the particulars of accepting a basketball scholarship.
Calloway hasn't visited any other schools, even though LMU and Long Beach State expressed
interest early on. Ron Massey, Long Beach Jordan's coach confirmed that Calloway is fully
qualified Craig would be a great pickup for CSUN. He's a good scoring guard, and as
the Daily News notes today, he averaged 15.5 ppg and 4.5 apg last season. He's also the
"godbrother" of CSUN forward Andre Larry.
