1999 San Bernardino Kiwanis
Holiday Tournament--(Oct. 1, 1999)

One of our friends from the Inland Empire tipped us off to a small blurb that appeared in yesterday's San Bernardino County Sun about the 1999 1999 San Bernardino Kiwanis Tournament which is slated to only feature teams (several of them top teams) from San Bernardino County. Tournament organizer John Powell, San Gorgonio's athletic director, has added Rialto and Ontario to the 16-team field after Palm Springs, Riverside County's lone represenative, and Bloomington dropped out. "We had an opportunity to add two strong teams to the tournament," Powell told the Sun. "Rialto has a strong team coming back and Ontario had one of the strongest teams in the county last year."

So far, the tournament is scheduled to have Apple Valley, Barstow, Cajon, Colton, Etiwanda, Ontario, Pacific, Redlands, Redlands East Valley, Rialto, Rim of the World, San Bernardino, San Gorgonio, Silverado, Victor Valley and Yucaipa. The four-day tournament will take place from December 27 through December 30. The early rounds will be played with at San Bernardino and San Gorgonio high schools, and the final eight games will be played at Cal State San Bernardino's Coussoulis Arena.
